CORK!
I have decided to write this in English so people in Australia and allower can understand. Also I can't get to a computer with an Icelandic keyboard which is quite annoying.
CORK: We have arrived to City of Cork. Cork isn't much bigger than Reykjavik and surroundings put together but it feels much busier and bigger as it's very much packed into one place. The place always seems busy.
THE IRISH: The people are alright and more attractive than I thought. My opinion they are just Australians with accents. They are nothing like Icelanders. Icelanders are supposed to be half Irish but I can't see it. I have also found out that the Irish aren't as religious as you'd think. Maybe most of them go to church but I think that's it.
IRELAND: The city and the housing are very old. It looks very much like England and everything is so old fashioned. It's very much like going back in time especially when coming from modern Iceland. Things seem very dirty and messy here, a bit like England. It also has all the English shopping and there are pubs everywhere. Yes pubs on every corner and the beer is cheap too. Paddy can't believe that the beer here is cheaper than in Australia. You only pay Euro 3.60-3.80 for a pint. That is around AUS$ 5.50-6. ISKR 300.
THE ACCENT: It's very hard to understand some people. You tend to say "sorry", "pardon" all the time. I'm actually thinking of just getting a pub or a restaurant job to start with to get the accent as I got no idea what people are saying to me most of the time. I need to practice my speech before I go into anything more serious.
Funniest thing is everyone here thinks I'm from Australia. They can really hear an Australian accent. Even a guy from New Zealand thought I was Australian when I was talking to him.
Other wise everything is going alrigh. We have found a small studio apartment in the city centre which is a bit old and horrible but we have cleaned it up and it's not too bad now. Hopefully we'll only stay there until Christmas though as it is very small. We still don't know what we are doing after Christmas. We will most likely go to Iceland for Christmas but after that we are not sure. We are also going to see how our job hunt will go.
I'll try to write here regularly to keep everyone updated.
